Office Insurance

An Office Insurance Policy is a combination of both Property Insurance and General Liability insurance.

General liability – Insurance which protects your practice from another person or business’ claims of bodily Injury, associated medical costs and damage to their property.

  • Example: Bodily injury – A client trips and falls over a power cord or piece of equipment and you’re held legally liable for the injury. The company will respond to the claim and related medical expenses up to the respective limits of liability.

Legal Liability or Fire Legal Liability – Covers your legal liability for loss or damage to real and personal property of others as the result of your negligent acts and/or omissions. The loss or damage must be caused by a covered peril and the loss must be accidental. This coverage most often is purchased by tenants who are renting or leasing space in a building and is required by contract.

Business Personal Property – Consists of furniture; fixtures, machinery, and equipment not permanently installed; inventory; or any other personal property owned by and used in your practice and is located at your office.

Hired & Non-Owned Auto liability – Covers claims against your practice if an employee has an accident while using their own (or rented) vehicle for the practice. This coverage adds coverage as part of your general liability limits to your office insurance policy. The coverage provides protection for your practice, not your employees or their vehicle.

  • Example: The quick errand – You ask one of your employees to use his or her car to go on a quick errand to purchase supplies for your office or stop by the bank or post office. While on the errand, the employee has an accident. If your practice is found liable for the damages, the hired/non-owned auto coverage will respond up to the applicable limits.

Business Interruption/Business Income insurance – Is a coverage that replaces business income lost as a result of an event that interrupts the operations of the practice, such as a fire or a natural disaster.
